Waiting at Heaven's Gate:

I got to the gates of Heaven yesterday,
After we said good-bye.
I began to miss you terribly,
Because I heard you cry.
Suddenly there was an Angel and she asked me
to enter Heaven's gate.
I asked her if I could stay outside
for someone who'd be late.
I wouldn't make much noise you see,
I wouldn't bark or howl.
I'll only wait here patiently
and play with my tennis ball.
The Angel said I could stay right here
and wait for you to come.
Because Heaven just wouldn't be Heaven
if I went in alone.

Before Humans die, they write their last Will and Testament, give
their home and all they have, to those they leave behind.
If, with my paws, I could do the same, this is what I'd ask...

To a poor and lonely stray I'd give:
My happy home.
My bowl and cozy bed, soft pillows and all my toys.
The lap which I loved so much.
The hand that stroked my fur and the sweet voice which spoke my name.

I'd will to the sad and scared shelter dog, the place I had in my
human's loving heart, of which there seemed no bounds.

So my humans, when I die, please do not say. "I will never have a pet again, for
the loss and pain is more than I can stand."

Instead go find an unloved dog, one whose life has had no joy or hope
and give MY place to HIM.

This is the only thing I can give...The love I left behind with you.

Laura T. Hulke (Zerba)

May 28th, 1960 - August 19, 2011

Laura Hulke

In fond remembrance of a teacher,
mentor, and friend. It is a sad day for Dobermans, and those of us whose lives were immeasurably enriched
by her knowledge, insight and
devotion to the breed.

Maddie
November 12 1999 - December 17 2011

Maddie came into this world and sadly as a tiny pup Maddie and her littermate were thrown in a paper bag, beaten and left for dead on the side of the road around 8 weeks of age. Fortunately a kind elderly man took Maddie in and gave her a wonderful life until he passed away. Once again Maddie is left to fend for herself around 3 or 4 yrs old as the family didn't want Maddie and she was found in the area she lived as a "stray". The humane society contacted Doberman Rescue of MN as they didn't have the means to save her in the condition she was in with mange, thyroid and down to a gravely thin 33# so DRM took her in.  Not once did Maddie ever let her past effect her enjoying life to the fullest until the very end. The intelligence, kindness, strength and heart she had surpassed any dog I know and she was full of kisses, not just any kisses but full face wash kind. Maddie never let her past be a reason to distrust a human or act mean towards them. In November 2011 at the Dobe O Rama Charity event Maddie was to man the kissing booth for a few hours, which was a perfect job for our little Ambassador.

Our home is very sad with losing our Ambassador of the Doberman Breed to cancer.
Maddie, I love you so much and you are always in my heart. Run free my angel and enjoy being breathing with ease again.

Love,

Mama, Tess, and Angel Haylee

RIP dear friends:
